Lexia Early Reading® Ages 4 - 6
Knowledge of the structure of language and basic sound-symbol correspondence gives early readers a strategy to apply when confronted with unfamiliar words, and prepares them for reading success.
The activities in the program provide exposure to phonological principles and the alphabet, presented in an engaging, age-appropriate manner by a friendly character named Lexie.
SKILLS REINFORCED INCLUDE:
The program gives instant feedback and adjusts automatically to each student's abilities. The on-screen alerts and user-friendly database management help teachers and administrators track student and class performance.
SKILLS REINFORCED INCLUDE:
After the student takes the test, the computer generates at-a-glance reports in both graphic and tabular form to indicate the students' strengths and weaknesses in each skill area. The reports allow the teacher to easily recognize the specific areas where practice or instruction is needed for an individual or even an entire class.
The Lexia Quick Reading Test, which can track up to 90 students, creates an electronic Individual Education Plan (IEP) for each student and suggests beneficial activities and units in Lexia's skill development software according to the student's needs. With the Lexia Quick Reading Test, the teacher immediately clearly recognizes where to concentrate instruction, allowing for a curriculum better suited to the children's needs.
The picture to the bottom right shows an example of a graphic report and its list of prescribed activities. This student has mastered single vowel sounds, but needs help with vowel combinations and multi-syllable words.
SKILLS ASSESSED:
The software helps learning disabled, special needs, and mainstream students strengthen their thinking, memory, and problem-solving abilities, improving performance across subjects as varied as reading, math, science, and social studies
